SEEDS OF ALLICOSPERMUM SZAFERI SP. NOV. CONTAINING BISACCATE POLLEN GRAINS FROM THE POLISH LIAS
Summary: Nasiona Allicospermum szaferi sp. nov. zawierające dwuworkowe ziarna pyłku z polskiego liasu. Abstract: Seeds of Allicospemum szaferi sp. nov. from the Lias of Northern Poland preserved as compressions showed after maceration inner cutinized membranes, such as the megaspore membrane, the cuticle of the nucellus and fragments of the integument. Bisaccate pollen grains were present on inner cuticles and in maceration fluid and in two seeds there is evidence of a pollen chamber. The apex of the nucellus is unusual, forming a flat funnel. The reconstruction of the seed is given and its affinities discussed. Most probably it is the seed of a pteridosperm.
